A lot of kibbutzim are run collectively. As a joke in the TV show The Americans went, from an Israeli to a Soviet spy: "if you like socialism so much, defect to Israel, we do it better". That kind of thing isn't in the American DNA. You'd have people demand a lawn and a fence after a month. |
