The modern mortgage market is largely based around multiple people with jobs. Once you have a kid either one of those people is taking 5 years out of work or they're paying nursery fees for the next 5 years. Either of which is incredibly expensive (£15k per year in the UK for full-time childcare). So a lot of people decide "Well, I didn't fancy children that much." |
