Can we imagine a world where the claims are adjudicated by an uninterested party (as far as possible)? I don't want the insurance company to decide a contractual issue, that's ridiculous. At the moment they're kept honest by the law and by public opinion (which varies by country), but the principal-agent problem is too big to ignore.
