GM bought a pig in a poke. The 2023 accident prompted GM senior management to review the Cruise operation and they found too many deficiencies to be worth fixing. It's easy to look like Waymo. Much harder to actually perform at that level. Robotaxis are a high stakes bet. You have to be extremely confident in the tech before spending billions of dollars to expand your service area. |
