Coinbase buying 5-star ratings on TradingView like a solopreneur growth hacker
3 points by mike31fr 411 days ago
Just received an email from Coinbase offering 100 USDC to users who give them a 5-star rating on TradingView.

This feels deceptive.

I have seen growth hackers do this a lot, but... Coinbase?

Curious if others have received this email or what you think about platforms allowing this kind of practice.

Here is the email:

We’re thrilled to announce that we are now integrated on TradingView, the leading charting platform and social network used by 90M+ traders and investors worldwide. TradingView users can now seamlessly chart-trade spot and perpetual futures contracts on Coinbase Advanced via the TradingView platform. For a limited time, first time API traders can earn up to $100 in USDC on Coinbase Advanced.

Get started in a few, simple steps:

- Login to your TradingView account

- Go to the Coinbase Advanced broker page

- Connect via oAuth

- Approve permissions for your portfolio and start chart trading

- Make sure to rate Coinbase Advanced 5 stars on TradingView

Are you sure this isn't a scam?
Here is the Coinbase-hosted version of the email:

This looks interesting if it's an scam. Which permissions does it ask?
