I'd nominate Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni. As authoritarian "president for life" since 1986, he's demonstrated some savvy statecrafting amid Africa's resource wars and ethnic violence, making the country a point of stability and economic growth on the continent. (Of course, he's got plenty of negatives on the record too. But I think in the game of "Great Man History", he's already left a big legacy.) |
