I did something similar. we had some financial issues and disagreement between cofounders. I left and the other cofounder bought back my shares.

how do you value the shares in that case? if i leave, i'm debating whether to sell my shares or simply split the company in half because it's no product and just the two of us.

they bought it back for what I paid them for, very cheap.

then they issued stock options to me based on the 1-year cliff. I never exercised those options.
