> The intent of 1A is to protect the freedom of speech from those in power. The entire First Amendment is one sentence: > Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Nowhere in there does it say anything about "those in power" in a way that it could possibly apply to a private party. |
