I read this article and was pleased not just with the community development, but with the spread of the word "stoop" all the way out to the West Coast. It's a Dutch word brough over in the New Amsterdam era that was originally mostly confined to New York. It has the same etymology as English "step": https://www.etymonline.com/word/stoop |
