There's a creepy Japanese urban myth about a guy who injured his knee at the beach. He developed knee pain, so he went to the doctor, and they discovered barnacles growing inside his kneecap. A goose appearance would probably make it goosebump-less.

I've heard a similar story about a little boy and snail eggs at the beach. Did a quick search and it seems to have happened multiple times in the past. Perhaps the barnacle story isn't an urban myth after all.
