Office 365 has version history of the documents you edit. It is integrated within Microsoft ecosystem and makes any external version control obsolete.

Your claim of being able to track versions for any file makes it worth trying as office 365 apps only allow version control of their own documents

Thanks! I am a LibreOffice user and I was not aware that Microsoft 365 had version control.

My software renames the file and appends a unique tracking number. So it is possible to track versions of any file without restrictions.
