Agree that best tool for the job is important, and that node.js may be the right tool if your app is very realtime-focused. But no need to go node.js if all you need is a progress indicator. I think the modern web stack does need an easy way to do realtime communication, and as a casual Rails engineer since pre 1.0, I'm happy to see this get support out of the box. |
