one of the most instructive things about the whole catastrophe is that the US ruling class actually - with a few exceptions - has no morals or values and will not actually intervene to stop "bad" things, even "bad" things happening in obviously "bad" ways.

Historically, the ruling class has not cared about anyone other than the ruling class.

Mel Brooks sums it up nicely, multiple times, in History of the World Part I:
