I'd be very skeptical of applying anything we knew about the YouTube algorithm 9 years ago to it, or any algorithm, today. Google, Facebook, and the other algorithm-driven tech companies have been aggressively enshittifying their products at least since 2020. "I got fun/useful videos out of the YouTube algorithm in 2016" says nothing about what that algorithm is like in 2025, given that they can change it silently on a whim. |
