Of course highly politicised articles will be controversial and a lot of time will be spent moderating it, but I have to be honest, I don't actually use Wikipedia that often to look at current events. For me, Wikipedia is at it's best when describing factual, settled data in a neutral point of view. I don't believe that such a thing is possible with current events, even though Wikipedia editors do seem to strive for it. I'd much rather these resources be aimed at refining the articles that are objective and settled, rather a political back and forth. I love the /r/AskHistorians 20 year rule, which serves them really well. |
