As much as social media will try to ingrain this into you, people are not just "right" or "left" and you'll find plenty of conservatives in the US that are not in agreement with Trump's stance on distancing from old allies and not helping Ukraine, and that doesn't make them "left-wing", "libtards" or other slurs.

I'm not on social media but thanks. My views about HN come from the last few months of almost all top news stories top comments involve trump and or musk bashing if any leap to them can be made. This story was just particularly one sided in the comments.

You say Trump is distancing but the reality is, Ukraine people are dying and he's the only one to offer and off ramp and not endless bloodshed. It's as of nobody in this thread values human life, only important thing is orange man and Putin bad. What Putin did sucks and but it has been happening throughout all human history. The solution is not endless bloodshed. Any offramp and chance at peace should be welcomed by anyone one values life.

Would you be making the same argument if it was 3 years into Russia having invaded the US? Why shouldn't they want to continue fighting for their freedom? Why would they believe Putin will honor any peace deal, and not just use it to prepare for his next offensive?
