> Make cards nice to look at > Stop immediately if you're bored or annoyed This is a dangerous combo, and entirely the reason I flounder at any task that ONLY helps if done fully, and on a regular basis. I can spend days obsessing about the cards, or the organization and automation I can add. My interest will disappear the second that stops being interesting, way before I get ANY value from spaced repetition. The best thing (for me) is a predefined rigid system. It looks like what it looks like with 0 options. I should have no choice but to start using it if I decide I should use it. The initial excitement should be redirected into just starting on the valuable stuff as soon as possible, so that there's at least a small chance I stick with it just long enough to install something in my brain. IMO embrace the short term wins if that's all you can promise you have the interest for. |
