This was about PHP 4/5 -- we are currently on PHP 8. I wouldn't even bother reading it, and some syntax there is not used in modern PHP. PHP still has its warts -- like any language -- but with IDEs (which weren't around in 2012) and modern frameworks, you don't run into them very often. |
