maybe few different reasons
* sometimes people use it as notebook - just to put their thought on "paper"
* "nobody reads" sometimes depends on the subject - some subjects are specific and the audience is limited
* it is good to "document" your thought event to yourself - you can reed them in years and see what was your point of view back then.
