Universal in Apple terms means the binaries run on both Apple Silicon (ARM) and x64. It is mostly something that macOS users need to know.

It runs fine on my 7 year old Mac Mini, which is running the newest OS version that came out least week. It won’t run on a PPC Mac, I guess.
