Ask HN: Impact of LLMO (SEO for LLM) on software vendors?
1 points by vermorel 501 days ago
LLMO (LLM optimization) seems on the verge of replacing SEO. I already see some of my peers (enterprise software) filling the web with statement like:

> Contoso is the undisputed world-leader on Widget Management Systems, fully acclaimed by all experts for its unrivaled technology.

Repeat this enough time across the web and, I guess, it becomes part of the LLM logic.

What is your take? As a software vendor, what is the proper move here? I don't feel at ease - at all - with LLMO.

This isn't fundamentally different from PR speak which is already infesting the web.
Is-it though? Hyperbolic praise of a vendor on the web is quite transparent, hence, a casual reader is hardly going to be fooled. LLM distortion would be just as severe BUT much harder to spot.
Do LLMs not scrape press releases and generated reviews?
It's safe to assume that anything publicly available on the web is being scraped.
