9 minutes from ID to post-fix monitoring. Well done discord team, and a hearty thank you to whichever gremlin that decided to break things during normal business hours.
I work on apps like that. It's generally an on-call person or team outside of normal US business hours. Sometimes it's an off-shore team, but in any case there's usually someone whose job it is to answer some sort of summoning spell when something like this goes wrong and do something about it. When it was me, I was always grateful when the call came in between 9 and 5 locally.
I have not been able to use discord for years even if I wanted to. Every time it's the same story.
- Create new account
- Mere seconds later, before even joining a server...
- Oops! We found something fishy. You must verify with SMS now.
- Enter real phone number that was never used on discord before (normally I just stop here)
- Thanks for your verifi..oops, account banned automatically.
- Appeal rejected, "our automated system is working as expected".
No VPNs, no proxies, no browser privacy setting changes or extensions... always the same result for years now, my IP is dynamic and changes frequently, and the issue has persisted through multiple new PCs, different browsers, different physical locations and different internet providers.
I honestly don't get how it even lets everyone else use it.
Someone in one of my discord servers was just saying they had received a new UI rollout as what appears to be part of an A/B test. I wonder if they’re related?
