I would say that Buddhism is spiritually Serenist but practically Endurist.
The reason for this, I believe, is due to the competitive advantages Endurism has—all memeplexes that didn't adopt it disappeared. The founders of Buddhism were sophisticated enough to adopt endurism on a practical level, which allowed it to survive. The idea of reincarnation does a lot of heavy lifting in this context by making suicide a pointless move to escape suffering. |
