Leaders shouldn't be constantly hiding their real emotions, but the book he starts his essay off with is talking about 1:1s specifically. Lots of people find 1:1s to be stressful and unpleasant already. It might not be the worst thing for managers to try to make it as positive as they can and not add additional worry and emotional burden during the 1:1. |
