I find this nicely captures the difference between "rationality" and "reasonableness". A system can be rational but rest on unreasonable assumptions; a system may not be entirely rational but at least can have reasonable assumptions. |

for the curious, from Merriam Webster dictionary:
rational 1 a - having reason or understanding
b: relating to, based on, or agreeable to reason : reasonable
From American Heritage dictionary:
rational
1. Having or exercising the ability to reason
2. Consistent with or based on reason or good judgment; logical or sensible.
It creates misunderstanding to choose to create a differentiation between two words that most people view as synonymous.
