It's very normal for a package to remain in its "nursery" for a while. There are various ways to install packages directly from GitHub and other forges. Publishing to MELPA although is a fairly simple process, it does require certain steps and of course the vetting and approval. Often it takes long time. Sometimes (for various reasons) authors may decide not publish at all. |
