The key point is that for most graduates in the USA, STEM is *not* a lifelong career. Any "shortage" is due to the fact that most STEM workers are being discarded by middle age. For most, the longevity of their STEM career is only slightly better than professional baseball --- with much longer hours and much less pay. |
