Reshaping the wedding industry via mobile app technology

How do we change the status quo of the wedding industry? We flip it on its head..

Imagine a world where the wedding party no longer incurs the exorbitant debts of hosting a wedding.

Isn't the ultimate gift the presence of the loved ones you invite?

Imagine a mobile app where there are hundreds, if not thousands of wedding venues across the globe that host weddings, which requires the guests to pay for their attendance to subsidize the cost of the event for the wedding party.

There has been a consistent notion that giving a gift to the wedding party, wether that be a physical object, a vacation and/or cash is a token of wishing them well as they embark on their new journey and helping them solidify a solid foundation.

Does spending $50-150k on average sound like the start of a strong foundation for newly weds? I happen to think not.

Allowing the guests to pay for their seat and meal, instead of giving gifts that usually never amount to even half of what is spent on the event would rid of the grossly overinflated costs charged by the venues.

Would love to hear feedback on what we think the reality is regarding the possible changes of the industry that has grown long legs of its own and is sprinting away from affordability.

This is an interesting take. I am am from Africa thus context may vary. I would approach this from its fundamentals.

1. Who's responsibility does the venue selection and consequently payment belongs to. Where I am from people have option to contribute to the wedding budget but not specifically to the venue.

2. There is danger of people not liking the venue, this can lead people to drop-out and not attend due to the venue selection

3. This idea is great and can disrupt the entire industry

You bring up some excellent points. Thank you for the response!
