I moved from NYC, where I almost never drove and didn't own a car, to the Jersey suburbs, where I now do both. People look at me like I'm a lunatic when I tell them that I would rather drive in NYC any day of the week, than on Jersey highways, and some roads. The speeds are slower, and the people there are mostly confident, and I can read their car's body language. In Jersey? Something like 10% of the drivers are complete blanks, and I cannot at all predict what they're about to do, which makes them dangerous. If there's one tip I can give to any driver, anywhere, it's this: be predictable. |
