If we reach the point where we can ask AI for the answer to open questions and sometimes get correct answers, two things will happen: 1. It will be unable to answer some of these, and mathematicians will disproportionately focus on these. 2. Its answers will lead to questions that it can't answer, and again, mathematicians will focus on these. One nice thing about math is that once something becomes trivial, math seamlessly re-forms itself to account for that triviality; it's always looking at the horizon. |
