This is a pretty cool article and it shows out the difference in needs across states.

I remember I lived in Toronto for a year and constantly got asked why Americans needed "big trucks" for anything. They assumed every American had some massive truck.

I had to explain to them about farming, hauling stuff, etc... I'm not sure they believed me.

Hell, Californians feel the same way. "Who could ever need such a monstrosity!"
