It's not really limited to code sharing - any version of a text file can be versioned in the same way (e.g. the raw LaTeX code of revisions of a book or other document). Granted, this is still largely of interest to STEM geeks, so extending its capabilities to binary format versioning might lead in very interesting directions, as you point out. |
