Play HN: Give me a kids story, get a book [pdf]
1 points by guico 547 days ago
I'm working on an app that generates illustrated children's automatically.

And I'm running out of ideas to test the generation output so I thought this could be fun.

You send me a story, I'll reply with the book, fully illustrated in PDF.

Might even make a Christmas gift?

I just ask you to rate the output 1-5 (imagine it had cost you 1USD to make)

What kind of format (how much text, how many pages, should there be descriptions of the illustrations or does your app make those assumptions based on the text?)?
I just need a story line. Write as much or as little as you'd like.

Describing the characters helps making it more personal... and the result will always be more impressive in that sense.

There was a computer that wrote stories.

It made people forget how to write stories themselves.

The rest is like Canticle for Leibowitz.

But for children.

Good luck.

Your LLM seems unfamiliar with *Canticle for Leibowitz.”

Yeah, apparently. This was done with gpt-4o. Will try claude-sonnet at some point next week, it's supposed to be better. At least in terms of being more "creative" not sure about getting this kind of reference.
It only matters if you care about the actual writing. Using an AI to write usually means someone doesn’t.
