Ted Chiang's style reminded me of the short stories by Christopher Anvil [1].

I love Ted Chiang's work dearly, so I am excited to have a look at Anvil's work as well. Can you recommend something specific?

There are several collections of Anvil's stories available. My favorites are Rx for Chaos and The Power of Illusion.

if you're also a fan of eric flint russell I can recommend anvil's "pandora's planet" and "interstellar patrol" novels
