You may be surprised but the majority of people who own stuff do not worry whether they should get a third monitor or a new kitchen appliance. We just use some items and don't care much about them. If the TV breaks I'd look for a new one, but otherwise I don't care.

Same. The exception for me is tools, because I really enjoy building things and I own a house. I feel they’re inherently useful and I do research to ensure I get those that will last [nearly] a lifetime. I never buy a new tool because it’s new, only because the old one has become worn or broken.
