Hot take: I blame the culture of obsession with CS topics, leetcode, tail recursion, dependent types etc and not enough focus on solid engineering and domain knowledge in areas encountered by 90% of real life jobs. Starts in the education and perpetrates via hiring, blogosphere and programmer celebrities. |
