I can see the motivation to keep external messaging limited to saying a feature was added and everything else remains constant. You're insinuating an ulterior motive. Please don't do that; assume good faith[1]. (You can find trivial counterexamples that falsify this: PyPI was loud and explicit about deprecating and disabling PGP; there's no reason to believe it would be any less loud and explicit about a change here.)
