And they provide disproportionate value compared to their competitors. Which is why people want Musk to be the "efficiency czar".
The value is irrelevant. It's a conflict of interests for a citizen to be the CEO of a government contractor and work for the government, especially in a role that may have sway over how the government spends it's money. I'd go even further and say it's corruption.
