The adoption of AI in software development is absolutely mental to me. We as a collective are literally and willingly forfeiting our core skillset to technology that can only be operated by four huge tech companies that is known to get things seriously wrong. The I Got Mine mentality that justifies it all is staggering.

Good quality LLMs run offline and locally on average PCs. And most software developers have always embraced new technologies that make us more productive.

This is not the first time writing software got a lot more accessible and it won't be the last.

Linters, autocomplete and one-click refactor are one thing.

"Write me a function that does x" is career-ending.
