That's for an 8 GB Pi 5. It runs fine on the 2 GB Pi 5 that's $50 (or the 4GB for $60), which would bring it to $175, but if you want out of the box CarPlay the dedicated devices are still a better deal. For me, I want to tinker with different options. |

It's nice that you can tinker for basically the same price as a dedicated device. That's not always true.
I agree tinkering is fun, I was not trying to put down tinkering. Mostly, I was curious how the cost compared to a dedicated device and wanted to share what 5m of curiosity found out.
I assume based on your name, you are the OP. Thanks for sharing your tinkering, it was an interesting read. I had no idea such a CarPlay adapter thing even existed. I'm very ignorant of CarPlay(I'm deaf, so it's useless tech for me).
