Is Python experience absolutely required for the SE role? It's probably the easiest language to pick up, no?

It is, sadly; we're a very small team and we don't have a lot of cycles to spare on onboarding, so the fewer new things a hire needs to learn the better. It's not ideal! But it's an age and stage thing rn.
