We know what they did because a _lot_ of scientists desperately wanted to find supersymmetry and various dark matter candidates with the LHC and they've found absolutely _nothing_ and didn't actually just "make some shit up". Instead what they are doing is insisting that we build an even bigger particle accelerator. |
