Ask HN: What do you think about AI assistants?

There are so many companies right now that are creating talking AI avatars. We are working on something like that as well. We think they can eventually substitute sales people: so basically a potential customer will talk to an AI avatar who will show a demo and answer all of the questions. What do you think about it? What other use cases can you think of? I can accept AI agents for basic support stuff, as long as there's an easy escape hatch to talk to a human. I wouldn't be as welcoming to an AI agent as salesperson, though. If I were presented with that, I'd likely move on.
