You’re really struggling to explain here because you know it doesn’t make sense. It has nothing to do with price discrimination because the airline collected the fare either way. If I offered pizza and a drink for $2 or just pizza for $5 and someone buys the former and chucks the drink, that is not their problem, it’s mine for being an idiot.
