personal days of reflection and work make sense, but a holiday is probably inaccurate. things like toyotathon, various days of awareness or visibility, and prime day are essentially nihilist holidays, where the "holy" aspect of them is replaced with some material and un-sacred interest, and "celebrating" just means promoting or selling to people who don't care. Nobody is celebrating these things and acting them out is a banal rejection of meaning. I like the idea of taking days for important personal things, and there is probably a system of living well that includes these tasks, but maybe reflecting on what something "sacred" might actually mean is a better use of it. |
