Nothing lowers my opinion of someone than when they decide to control the music and ads randomly blast out of the speakers

Ads? What ads? With uBlock Origin on Firefox, and SmartTube on Android TV, I never see ads on YouTube.

Ads are for people too lazy to install ad-blockers.
