All these rules and processes are written in blood. Just because you don’t understand the reasoning behind them doesn’t mean there aren’t very good reasons for them. It’s the same with commercial aviation, with most accidents caused by “cowboy pilots” who think they know better than all the stuffy rules and boring regulations that keep it all safe.
