If you lose your $90k/yr job at the factory and end up with a $24k/yr job flipping burgers, you won’t show up in the unemployment or labor participation stats, but your quality of life has massively decreased. That’s a problem, especially when it happens on a large scale. It doesn’t matter if the overall economy gets wealthier if the median laborer is suffering. |
