As it is, the publishers basically extort libraries to the point where offering ebooks drains coffers way more than physical ones. Publishers give you no lending rights on physical books; legislation and common law give you rights to lend that stem from the first-sale doctrine where I live. Push your legislators (or courts) to establish first-sale doctrine over digital content and there you go. |
