Of course he wouldn't, the whole point of Turing's essay was that talking about the "intelligence" of computer systems is meaningless, and we should be focusing on their actual capabilities instead. His test was an example of a target that can't prove intelligence either way, but can still show a useful capability of a computer system. And he believed it wasn't as far away as it actually was. |
